What Is Heritage Day India?
Heritage Day is dedicated to celebrating the world’s greatest architectural sculptures and spreading awareness of the rich diversity of cultural and human heritage. A day of the year encourages us to celebrate all the world’s cultures, raise awareness of important monuments and cultural sites, and realize the importance of preserving world cultures.
In 1982, the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) proclaimed April 18 “World Heritage Day”, approved by the UNESCO General Assembly in 1983, with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of the cultural heritage of mankind and redoubling efforts to protect and preserve the heritage of mankind. In retrospect, in the end, in November 1983, the 22nd UNESCO Conference adopted the final resolution, and since then, April 18 of every year has been celebrated as World Heritage Day.

Every year on April 18, World Heritage Day or International Day of Monuments and Landmarks is celebrated to raise awareness of the importance of cultural heritage around the world and pervert our traditional heritage and culture. April 18 is a day to raise awareness of the preservation of history, diversity and vulnerability of World Heritage sites and monuments. One day a year means raising awareness of the importance of the diversity of cultural heritage and its preservation for future generations. The purpose of celebrating this day is to raise people’s awareness of the conservation and importance of World Heritage sites and monuments and to engage them in heritage by providing information about such sites located around the world.
On World Heritage Day, the world also wants to celebrate the efforts of all those involved in protected areas, such as architects, engineers, geographers, civil engineers, artists and archaeologists, who are involved in heritage conservation. Every year from November 19th to 25th, it celebrates the wonders of India’s natural heritage and draws public attention to the conservation of national monuments. International Day for Monuments and Sites, also known as World Heritage Day, is an international holiday celebrated around the world on 18 April each year and includes a variety of events including visits to monuments and sites, conferences, roundtables and newspapers articles.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) first celebrated the day in 1983. The General Conference of UNESCO approved this ratification by a resolution at its 22nd session in November 1983, proclaiming 18 April as the International Day for Monuments and Sites. However, this event is traditionally known as World Heritage Day. The theme of ICOMOS 2020 is “Shared Culture, Shared Heritage, Shared Responsibility”, providing an opportunity to highlight the importance of intergenerational exchanges in protecting and celebrating our heritage.
