father's day

why father’s day is so important

Father’s Day is a day that all of us have to give our best in celebrating and making sure that we make it the best for our fathers. The third Sunday of June is usually celebrated as Father’s Day and this year, Father’s Day is celebrated on 19 June, 2022. This day is a celebration of fathers, paternal bonds and father figures; to commemorate the roles they play in our lives and honoring them. Fathers always play an important role in our lives, shaping our futures, inspiring us, taking care of us and protecting us.

The origin of Father’s Day

Father’s day was originally proposed in 1909, to celebrate and honor fathers. The day was founded by Sonora Smart Dodd in US. Her father was a Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, a single parent from Arkansas who selflessly raised six children. Sonora heard about how Mother’s Day was created by Anna Jarvis to honor her mother and felt that there should be a day to celebrate fathers and all they do for their children.

Sonora approached one of the pastors of her church that there should be a day like this and at that the day should be celebrated on June 5, the day of her father’s birthday. The church did not agree to the petition in the beginning, but she eventually got people to participate in the day’s events. The day has been ever since been celebrated on the third Sunday of June. In 1924, US President Calvin Coolidge gave his support publicly to Father’s Day and the legislation signed by US President Richard Nixon in 1972 established it as a national holiday.

Importance of Father’s Day

Father’s day is important as it is a day for us to show our love and gratitude to our fathers and appreciate them for all that they do for us. We can celebrate the contributions that our fathers do for our families and the society. Father’s day help us remember everything that they sacrifice and give up so that we can have a better life and great futures. We all know how our father’s shoulders are always burdened with responsibilities, yet don’t complain about it or tell that they are tired and need help. It is our responsibility to take off the burden, for at least a day and celebrate his love and everything he does for us.

How to celebrate Father’s Day

Father’s day can be celebrated in various ways, but in the end, our goal is to thank them and to make them feel loved, understood and the happiest. You can wish them in the morning, get them father’s day gifts, and in the present internet world manner, wish them a happy father’s day with a heartfelt message. All of us may not be great at writing messages and writing what we feel, and can always take the help of the internet and search, “happy father’s day quotes”; and from the thousands of results, you can choose one and send it over to your dad to make his day beautiful. If you need any help in finding the perfect gift for your dad, all you have to do is search “father’s day gifts” online and behold, you will get a list of gift options for your father.

How is Father’s Day 2022 different from Father’s Day 2020 and 2021?

Father’s day 2022, can be celebrated in a much better way than Father’s Day 2020 and Father’s Day 2021. In the last two years, Covid-19 has destroyed every celebration for us. We couldn’t go to our favorite restaurants; we couldn’t travel anywhere, or do anything outdoorsy that we liked doing earlier. But with everything slowly going back to normal, we can celebrate and honor our fathers by taking them out to dinner to help them have fun for a while and take a break from the monotonous routine, or we can take them out for a family trip and let them relax and slow down for a while. Personalized gifts for dads are also taking prominence where you can get them a gift closer to their heart rather than a custom made gift.

This father’s day, let us make it special for our fathers and let them know that we understand, respect and love everything they do for us and that we appreciate all their efforts. After all, they are our superheroes and the first love for many girls. Let us take a moment to wish our father, a “Happy Father’s Day” and let them know how much we love them.
